WHY GRAMERCY PARK DERMATOLOGY?
Physicians : Linda K. Franks, M.D. FAAD
Selected as one of America's Best Doctors for six years running, Dr. Linda K Franks is evidence that hard work, excellent education, and a fun/caring personality have helped her meet and exceed her medical and personal goals.
An Honors graduate from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in 1986, Dr. Franks then performed her internship at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Next followed her residency at NYU’s Department of Dermatology where she became Chief Resident and also spent a fellowship year of basic science research. Dr. Franks then served Active Duty in the United States Air Force Medical Corps from 1990-94 before joining Gramercy Park Dermatology Associates in 1994. In 2009 she became Medical Director for the practice, yet she still allocated time to teach dermatology surgery at NYU every other Wednesday morning.
A diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Linda Franks is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the International Society of Dermatologic surgery, the Medical Society of the State and County of New York, and the Dermatology Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Her articles have been published in numerous dermatological medical journals and consumer periodicals, and she has presented many papers at medical conferences.
Dr. Linda Franks has held consulting and advisory positions with Almay/Revlon, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Lumenis, among others, and has been interviewed for and quoted in such consumer magazines as Newsweek, Allure, Self, Ladies Home Journal, and Redbook.
When not in the office practicing medicine, Linda can be found with her family, including six daughters, husband and a dog named Skippy. She is an avid reader, participating regularly in her neighborhood book club. An early riser, Linda keeps in physical shape by enduring her gym's boot camp a couple of times each week--before most of us have reached for the snooze button.
As if all that wasn't enough, she has a part-time teaching assignment at NYU, spent a week in the Dominican Republic completing a medical charity mission in February, and is busy helping her soon-to-graduate daughter in the quest for the right college..while trying to untie those motherly apron strings a bit more each day. Much tougher than medical school, she says.
If you're looking for a physician that actually enjoys listening, and building a treatment plan in conjunction with her patients, then Linda is the right doctor for you.
Drs. Linda and Andrew Franks, Jr., reside just outside Manhattan and are proud to be practicing medicine in the greatest city in the world.
