About Us
History : Past
Gramercy Park Dermatology began with Dr. Andrew G Franks, Sr in 1934 who built a thriving practice over three generations with compassionate, state of the art medicine delivered in his signature “country doctor” style. In addition to private practice, he was Professor of Dermatology at NYU where he was Chief of Service at the Skin and Cancer Unit. With degrees in both Law and Medicine, he was regarded as a medical legal expert in skin disease and founded the American Academy of Occupational Medicine. In 1978, Dr. Andrew G. Franks, Jr. joined Gramercy Park Dermatology, bringing new expertise and an equal “personal touch” style of medical practice. Board certified in Dermatology, Rheumatology, and Internal Medicine, Dr. Andrew Franks, Jr. is recognized nationwide for his diagnostic acumen and treatment strategies in Autoimmune Connective Tissue Disease. This expertise has earned him numerous awards and honors including New York Magazine’s Best Doctor status for 15 consecutive years. In 2008, he left Gramercy Park Dermatology in the capable hands of his wife, Linda, to became a full time Professor of Dermatology and Rheumatology at NYU where he is Director, Cutaneous Lupus and Autoimmune Skin Disease Center.
