Fillers & Injectables : Radiesse
Radiesse is a long-lasting filler made of calcium-based microspheres. Typically, it serves to restore volume in the nasolabial folds, cheeks, and chin—though it’s beginning to be used to plump up the backs of the hands, as well.
Generally, one treatment is all that’s needed. Radiesse is administered with the use of a local anesthetic. Results are immediate, with little or no downtime.
The unique advantage of Radiesse is that it lasts for up to a year—more than twice as long as other fillers.
But Dr. Franks cites another benefit: “Along with Sculptra, this is one of the active fillers. Its calcium content—“the liquid analog to bone”—continues stimulating the skin to produce more collagen” over the weeks and months following the injection.
